Joy Neasley Studios & The Watercolor Woods

At Joy Neasley Studios, I create art and stories that invite people to pause, look closer, and feel a connection to the natural world. My work is rooted in a love for wild places and the creatures that live there—the rustle of leaves along a riverbank, the flash of a blue jay’s wing, the quiet watchfulness of a deer at the forest’s edge.

The heart of my creative practice is The Watercolor Woods, a growing, interconnected world where woodland characters live, learn, and share adventures. Through richly detailed watercolor paintings, stories, greeting cards, prints, and handcrafted products, I bring this world to life for children and the young at heart. Characters like Pip the deer mouse, Mia the blue jay, and their woodland friends invite readers and collectors into a place where curiosity, courage, and community are celebrated.

My studio is both a sanctuary and a springboard: a place where I layer transparent washes on archival paper and sketch storylines inspired by real wildlife. Each piece I create—whether an original painting, a bookmark, or a tale about a new friend discovered in the meadow—is meant to connect art with story and story with heart.

Ultimately, my goal is to build a bridge between the viewer and the natural world, to inspire wonder and stewardship, and to offer a moment of calm in our busy lives. Joy Neasley Studios is not just about art—it’s about creating a living, breathing woodland universe where imagination and nature meet.
